Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt


This course will enable Yellow Belt participants to:

i. Gain more in-depth knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma, and each of the five phases that are to be applied in practical terms.
ii. Gain a broad understanding of the Lean and Six Sigma improvement methodology, concepts, and language, along with a complete toolbox of basic process improvement methods.
iii. Enhance their technical problem-solving skills. Instruction is application focused, therefore requiring all participants to successfully support existing or new Lean and Six Sigma projects.
iv. Upon completion of this training, participate as a core team member or subject matter expert on a project or projects together with the supervisors/managers.

Course Description

The course provides you with a deeper understanding of the lean six sigma problem-solving tools and introduces detailed analysis methods to maximise cost reductions and improve customer satisfaction in engineering service environment and business processes.

In addition, throughout the course will enable you to extend your DMAIC capability in identifying real root causes by using advanced statistical & Lean tools. You also be able to analyse, evaluate, create and develop solutions.

The course is designed to provide 30% classroom lecture and 70% group and individual exercises to enhance and reinforce key learnings.

LSS Overview • Overview understanding of Lean Six Sigma & DMAIC

• Use of Lean Tools for Process Improvements

Define • Define and scope Lean Six Sigma projects

• Focus on customers and their needs

Measure • Using effective statistical measurement to establish baseline of the project/problem
Analyse • Use detailed analysis techniques to analyse process models and maps, product/process flows & value streams

• Identify and eliminate wastes by using lean tools i.e. process mapping & value analysis

Improve • Capability to analyse, evaluate, create & develop improvement solutions for the critical X’s by applying lean solutions & graphical tools
Control • Using statistical process control & lean tools to sustain the changes
